what i think1. I was fortunate enough to have my mom very involved in my school while I was growing up. I always though that is the way things should be until I got a job in Akron public schools. It was then that I realized that all mothers cannot be involved because they have bigger issues going on at home. I think that it is common for students to judge eachother and it is the teachers resposibility to end that.
2. I have too often observed teachers who do not pay close enough attention to what their students are saying. They are too engaged in their cell phones and computers or talking to eachother to see bullying that they should be stopping.
3. In reading this book, the father was only depicted as angry and mean until this point where he saved a boy in the mill. This was the point in the story that I saw that deep down, the father was a good guy. 4. This is something that I learned in history books but not until I was older. I found it strange that this material was in a book intended for students who are not that old. I think by having this topic in a book, many other questions that students may not feel comfortable discussing may come up. 5. I feel that this was the perfect way to end the book. I think that it wrapped up the whole story nicely. |
This is a two column response journal. This is a good tool to use with students because it gives them the chance to reflect on what they have read.
